The New York Public Library

If like me you are obsessed by libraries, specifically New York Public Libraries, you will love their bookshop, which sits in their main branch on Fifth Avenue and 42nd Street. Their lovely staff individually picked out lots of great reads, including some classics from our childhood. Oh and of course, when they reopen, go say hello to Winnie-the-Pooh on your way out!

La Librairie des Enfants

If you are French, or have a kid, or are just a francophile, or a lover of cute small things, or all of the above, La Librairie des Enfants is the place for you! Lynda Ouhenia, the shop's owner shares loads of fun kid picks.

Galignani

Galignani reminds me of my childhood. It has always been an absolute favorite in Paris. They also specialize in books in English. Galignani's director, Danielle Cillien Sabatier made a special confinement reading list for us.

Albertine is the most impressive and inspiring French bookshop in America. Their deputy director Miriam has put together a special reading list to help you relax during these stressful days.

Printed Matter

Artists' Books pioneer Printed Matter picks out Sol Lewitt, Kameelah Janan Rasheed and an Art-Rite compilation from its catalog of 45,000 titles. Place an order on their website. It is difficult to resist, as some of their books look just as good online as they do in the flesh.

The Strand

Everybody in New York's favorite bookshop, The Strand picks out a couple of special reads in honor of Women's History Month. With its online and physical stores temporarily closed to the public, the best way to support your fave shop is to buy an e-gift card.

High Valley Books

Open by appointment since 1999, Greenpoint's secret High Valley Books specializes in design books and periodicals. Owner Bill Hall picks out a nice range of some of his favorite detective novels, vintage magazine issues and interior decoration books.

Dashwood Books

Dashwood Books has downtown New York's most sophisticated and fun collection of photography books, fashion books, artists' books and monographs. Owner David Strettell shares a few of his very interesting finds.

Left Bank Books

Left Bank Books' eclectic selection of vintage, used and rare books specializes in beautiful editions of art, photography and literature books. Erik DuRon and Jess Kuronen share their current top nine.

Kew & Willow Books
The Mysterious Bookshop

Otto Penzler from the Mysterious Bookshop picks out five of his favorite reads at the moment. Their beautiful shop in TriBeCa closed yesterday, but you can still place website orders, which will be shipped once business resumes.

Three Lives & Company

Toby Cox, owner of Three Lives & Company helps us make a special self isolation reading list. Currently closed to foot traffic, the Village's crown jewel of indie bookshops is still providing curbside service, free delivery in the West Village and shipping beyond the area.
